MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING JOB DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Manager will be a key member of the accounting leadership in our Honduras office and will report to the Director of Global Accounting. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for oversight and leadership of the company’s Latin America operational accounting teams.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Ensure that the accounting performed by the groups is accurate, timely, completed in accordance with GAAP and processes are SOX compliant. 
  • Serve as the “thought leader” in the accounting and finance organization, anticipating customer needs and impacts of changes in the business on the accounting results. 
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team while fostering a culture of teamwork, employee development and accountability. 
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the systems and processes related to all areas of responsibility.
  • Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and collaborate with them to drive desired outcomes.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordination of month end close process with Latin America teams.  This includes, review and posting of general ledger entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, review/post accruals, maintain accounting records, financial accounting and reporting, review and post accounts payable entries, review and post payroll related expenses and accruals.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of all back office operational accounting, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Cash Management and Supply Chain Management functions.
  • Understands and communicates the daily cash needs of all Latin America sites and prepares cash forecasting projections.
  • Works closely with the finance teams to ensure the forecast is accurate.
  • Liaison with external and internal audit teams to ensure timely delivery of audit requests, including statutory audits.
  • Design, implement and maintain appropriate controls.  Act as owner or adviser over certain SOX processes.
  • Identify and drive process improvement efforts to increase efficiency of the organization while strengthening internal controls.
  • Perform technical research for reporting and disclosures under various accounting standards.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate staff performance.
  • Prioritize and coordinate staff projects and workloads.
• Assist Supply Chain Organization with the following in Honduras
  • Sourcing and selection of potential suppliers 
  • Liaison for supplier performance issues
  • Translation of supplier documentation from Spanish to English as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • 6 + years of experience leading accounting teams of a public company
  • Previous experience managing geographically diverse teams
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP and Statutory requirements
  • Strong internal controls knowledge and implementation
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be bi-lingual in Spanish and English
  • Strong financial systems knowledge is required.  Systems integrations and implementations experience highly desired.
  • Previous experience working with external suppliers
  • BPO experience will be helpful but is not required
  • Degree in Accounting with Advanced degree or CPA highly desired
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office software programs
